You Can Get Raving Testimonials With The Right Approach
Who knows the number of illegitimate products available on the web in which something about it is a lie. Solid and strong testimonials can go a very long way, but it really just depends on the niche you are in. You need testimonials, and we will offer some excellent tips so you can be better armed to help your self.
If you're selling a good product that has helped a number of people, then there are high chances that you can do a case study by selecting a few successful customers. All you will do is assess the experiences of these customers, and then prepare a report. This makes it the ideal thing to focus on, because ultimately case studies are also testimonials. It's just another constructive way to get detailed feedback from your customers, so that you can publish it on your website and help your prospects make the buying decision. This is actually employed by many larger companies, and you can find their studies on their sites. If done right, you can simply blow people away with this approach.
Let's face it, your product or service may prove to be heaven sent for people facing a particular problem, but that doesn't make it perfect. People make products, and people are not perfect - so it all kind of makes sense. Constructive criticism is good if it's blended into a positive testimonial, which is why any testimonial that includes real feedback, without any sugarcoating is a lot more credible. The only thing you can do is test it, and we feel that you will be surprised at the results if you do test it. Look at it from the perspective of how it will effect people who read it, and they will respect you a little more for it. Try testing it, and if it decreases conversions then just don't use it.
There are small things that can affect the overall results that you get when you approach your customers for a testimonial. You will discover, in time, that lots of folks will be more open depending on how they are approached. You need to talk to people candidly but also in a way that will not make them nervous.
So instead of asking for a "testimonial", ask for their story and how your product helped them out and what kind of feedback they'd like to give about it. People want to know about the successes of others and not so much about testimonials.
Remember that people will not provide a testimonial on their own, and that is why you need to be proactive.

Black Notice (Kay Scarpetta Series #10) $88 The Barnes & Noble ReviewIn Black Notice, which is the best Kay Scarpetta novel to date, Patricia Cornwell learns what most great novelists — from Dickens. to F. Scott Fitzgerald to Richard Price — learn at some point in their careers. There's nothing wrong with a little soap opera. Please don't ask me about the plot because it's sort of all over the place. A lover of Kay's dies. Somebody in her office is out to sabotage her career. Her niece Lucy is in a lot of trouble with some very nasty people. And there's a truly terrible killer running around. All of these story elements work, some better than others, but each is serviceable. But the tone — and heart — of the novel is about betrayal. Kay's friend betrays her in his death. Her mind betrays her in her response to his death. Her superiors betray her in their cynicism and spiritual corruption. Even her niece betrays her in the chances she takes. She tries to find love and fails. And even when she tries to settle for mere piece of mind, she's betrayed. Her office enemies are relentless. Cornwell has never written this intensely before. In this novel the subtext is far more interesting — and believable — than the surface. The hints of hysteria and paranoia read like an update of Cornell Woolrich. And her sad, lonely battle to salvage some sanity and honor out of what is swirling around her makes for savagely fascinating reading. This is a triumph for Cornwell — and a feast for her readers. —Ed Gorman |
