Bridal Gowns - Here is A Bridal Gown Designer's Point of View
Since I was a little girl, I loved wedding gowns. I used to sneak in to my mother's closet to look at her wedding dress when she wasn't home. She had no trouble with showing it to me, but if she had known how lots of hours I spent pretty much drooling over it, she probably would have freaked out a bit. I had pretty childish tastes back then – expected because I was a kid. I loved wedding gowns because they looked so soft and fluffy. They were like cakes, and they made whoever wore them look halfway between a princess and a pastry. I could not get enough.
Back when I was buying discount wedding gowns at secondhand shops and wearing them to school with assorted punk rock modifications to shock my teachers, I never imagined that one day I would be a wedding designer. You see, as much as I loved wedding gowns, I wasn't specifically enamored of weddings. I was quite independent, and I could not imagine spending my whole life with one boy, raising children, and living in a tedious suburban corner of the world like my folks did. I wanted action and adventure. I wanted to be a mountain climber or a park ranger, or maybe a pro photographer.
One thing I didn't wish to be was a bride. I've never been a person who was totally in to weddings. I was never making plans for my dream wedding, picking my wedding songs and making lists of my bridesmaids since I was 5 years of age. I never heard classic love songs that folks use for wedding songs on the radio and immediately exclaimed, "That is going on my list of wedding songs!"
Nonetheless, despite my general lack of interest in the general concept of weddings, I was still impressed with wedding fashion. I loved when I was able to see outdoor weddings at the local park. We lived by a beautiful state park complete with the rivers, lakes, and beautiful rolling hills. There was a little wedding chapel there, and they would commonly rent it out. My boyfriend at the time must have thought I was sending him messages! I made him sit there with me all afternoon, watching the wedding party. Maybe he thought I had dreams of long-term romance, but such thoughts were furthest from my mind. I was focused on it merely from a fashion perspective.
Now that I’m getting ready for my own wedding, I’m struck by how different the experience is from that of helping other people get ready for their big day. Creating wedding gowns is easy. Even though there are retro designs, contemporary designs, classic designs, and many other variations, it doesn't amount to all that much variety. There are only a few things to keep track of, and if you love the garments it’s easy. Choosing one for yourself, on the other hand, is another matter. It’s probably the hardest part is getting married.
